Photojournalism Project

Subject Kayla Freshwater

I met Kayla Freshwater in the flat I lived in for three weeks before I moved to a new place closer to campus. I first met her waxing her surfboard on the terrace the day I moved into the house. She introduced me to surfing and helped me to purchase the right surfboard for me. When we went out for the first time I realised that she was attracted more to girls than boys. This lead to an interesting relationship between us where we were able to comfortably discuss and share passed experiences and future endavours specific to women. In the Photojournalism subject I chose her because I think she lives an interesting live and I wanted to highlight her, being a gold coast surfer girl as well as beeing a part of the gay community.
